Near, Far, Gone: From the Collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation

April 20, 2024 – September 8, 2024

Through the artwork of Ann Hamilton, Matthew Day Jackson, Wangechi Mutu and Kiki Smith, Near, Far, Gone: From the Collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation explores the close and complex relationship between humans and wildlife. Whether employing symbolism or allegory, color or texture, size or shape, these artists have looked to animals to contextualize the human experience and define our reflection in the landscape. Each of the nineteen works featured in the exhibition depicts an animal species in transition: some endangered, some threatened, some existing near humans and others moving further away.

Art in the West

July 20, 2024 – September 20, 2024

Art in the West is an annual juried exhibition and silent auction featuring traditional and contemporary art that celebrates the landscapes, wildlife, people, cultures and history of the High Desert—a region that stretches from the eastern slope of the Cascades and Sierras to the Wyoming Basin and Colorado Plateau.

The entire collection will be on exhibit at the High Desert Museum and will be available for viewing through our online auction page beginning July 15. Get ready to fall in love with your favorite pieces and bid from your computer or mobile device!

Proceeds from the Art in the West auction help support the participating artists and the Museum’s exhibitions and programs, bringing science, art and history education to lifelong learners through the region.
