AGREEMENT AND RELEASE FOR TEMPORARY HOUSING OF DOGS WHILE AT HIGH DESERT MUSEUM

We care about animals at the High Desert Museum, and that includes your pets!

You may be tempted to leave your pet in your car, truck or RV while you visit the High Desert Museum. But during warm weather, the inside of your car can reach 120 degrees in a matter of minutes, even if you’re parked in the shade. Pets that are left in hot cars even briefly can suffer from heat exhaustion, heat stroke, brain damage, and can even die.

The High Desert Museum offers temporary kennels and access to water for your dogs at no charge while you are visiting the Museum. The kennels are in a cool location and locked. You are responsible for placing and removing your dog from these kennels, and providing a water bowl. Water is available on site.

No Museum personnel will monitor the dogs during their confinement.

Temporary Boarding Release

  1. I understand that I can place my dog in a kennel at the High Desert Museum for temporary boarding during my visit. I will keep the key to the kennel during my visit, and return it upon leaving, or be charged for the lock.
  2. I understand that there will be no High Desert Museum representatives overseeing the kennel, and I am placing my dog there under my own responsibility.
  3. My dog will be on a leash at all times when not contained in the kennel, including while I am placing the dog in or removing the dog from the kennel.
  4. If my dog defecates on the grounds or while in the kennel, it is my responsibility to clean it up. Any garbage or waste should be deposited in the proper receptacles located on the grounds.
  5. I agree that the High Desert Museum is not responsible or liable for the actions or responses of the animal, and hold harmless the High Desert Museum and its employees for any and all injury, illness or disease sustained by my dog while at the High Desert Museum.
  6. I agree to pay for any damages to High Desert Museum property (other than normal wear) caused by my dog.
