Little
Wonders
Investing in our region’s children now will foster their future success and encourage engagement in our community.
The Little Wonders program was created in partnership with NeighborImpact’s Head Start to provide free two-year annual memberships to hundreds Central Oregon families who otherwise couldn’t attend regularly due to the cost of admission. The program also helps take down barriers such as transportation costs via gas cards and creating a welcoming atmosphere via free Family Nights.
On our opening Family Night, we welcomed more than 1,000 people to the Museum to introduce them to exhibits and programs that were now available to them. The halls and exhibits were filled with wide-eyed wonder and joyful sounds as children and their parents saw wildlife up close and explored all the Museum has to offer.
The Museum welcomes families from the Head Start program in Bend, La Pine, Sisters, Redmond and Prineville to these special evenings. Every family that registers for a Little Wonders Family Night, whether they can attend the event or not, receives a two-year family membership to the Museum. In 2025, the Museum gifted nearly 400 memberships.
NeighborImpact and Little Wonders
NeighborImpact Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood program that supports children and families from prenatal stages through age five. Head Start and Early Head Start programs focus on preparing children for success in school while also equipping families with the tools, confidence, and support systems they need to help their children thrive long term. The programs serve more than 600 children and their families across Central Oregon.
In 2016, the Museum and NeighborImpact connected to create the Little Wonders program from a shared commitment to family engagement and early learning.
