DSS Event – Sensing Sasquatch

Desert Sage Society Reception – Sensing Sasquatch

Please join Executive Director Dana Whitelaw, Ph.D., and the Board of Trustees of the High Desert Museum for an exclusive donor event.

Sensing Sasquatch, an original exhibition open March 2, 2024-January 12, 2025, will explore Sasquatch’s past, present and future in the High Desert region through an Indigenous lens. Sasquatch is a being that Native peoples of the region have long known about, encountered, depicted and told stories about throughout time. The exhibition will acknowledge Bigfoot as pop icon and then pivot to share works by five Indigenous artists who will provide a different lens on this “non-human other.”

You are invited to a private reception to preview this new exhibition and interact with Museum curators present in the gallery to share more about its creation. Then, hear from Indigenous advisor and artist Phillip Cash Cash, Ph.D. (Nez Perce, Cayuse), who will share more about the exhibition’s creation and the deep significance of Sasquatch throughout the region.
