Teen Programs

Teen Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in the Teen Volunteer Program, but it is currently full. The next orientation/interview day will be in May 2017. Please check back in the future for news about this program.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to portray a frontier homesteader, give talks about wildlife or work behind-the-scenes at the Museum?

These are just some of the things teen volunteers do as they gain in-depth knowledge about the cultural and natural history of the High Desert, and how to inspire visitors to become good stewards of the region’s resources. This program for ages 11 to 18 offers valuable work experience, allowing teens to assist in almost every area of the Museum.

Teen volunteers receive training focusing on customer service and techniques for sharing information with visitors. The program is designed so that teens can advance in their Museum work as they improve their skills and increase their understanding of the Museum.

The program requires a yearlong commitment.

Teens from 11 – 18 years old are welcome to apply. Currently, there is a full crew of volunteers, but check back in May 2017 for new listings. There will be opportuntiies for incoming teens in the future after some of those currently in the program move on to pursue educational, employment or personal interests.
