Waterston Desert Writing Prize
Paige Buffington – 2024 Finalist

Paige Buffington is Navajo, of the Bear Enemies Clan and born for the White People. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her work has appeared in Honey Literary, Terrain.org, and The Dine Reader among others.
She won the 2023 Zócalo Public Square Poetry Prize, and her All American Poem was named best Western poem by Western Writers of America in 2016.
She currently teaches kindergarten outside of Gallup, New Mexico.
