Volcanoes of Oregon
Explore the science behind the powerful forces that shape our landscape. Using the Cascade Mountains as a guide, investigate the differences between composite and shield volcanoes, examining their shapes, lava flow rates and igneous rock formations.

Supplies
Baking soda, vinegar, shallow cup, flour, water, salt and mixing bowls. Recipes for each volcano is below:
Shield Volcano: Place 1 tbs. baking soda in shallow cup and add 3 tbs. vinegar
Composite Volcano: Mix 1c flour with 1c water
Salt dough: Mix 1c flour and 1c salt with composite volcano dough
