Renewable Energy Station

Renewable Energy Station

What do wind, water, sun, and the Earth’s heat all have in common? They are each a source of renewable energy!

A new digital interactive station teaches visitors about renewable energy technologies in the High Desert region. From wind turbines and dams to solar panels and geothermal facilities, explore the internal mechanisms that make these technologies run.

While renewable energies reduce the burning of fossil fuels on a global scale, they can still affect the environments immediately surrounding them. To learn about the interaction between renewable energies and local ecosystems, visitors are invited to jump into a digital High Desert landscape to paint wind turbines, help fish ascend a fish ladder around a dam, grow native plants surrounding a solar farm and convert the Earth’s heat into electricity.

Learn and explore the mechanics of renewable energy! You can find the Renewable Energy Station inside the Desertarium.
