Museum Access Programs
The High Desert Museum is a museum for everyone. We are committed to our numerous access programs that allow visitors from every walk of life to experience artful exhibitions, alluring wildlife, engaging programs and meaningful history.
Blue Star Museums is for active duty military, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families. They may visit the Museum at no charge all year round.
Desert Explorer’s Passes can be checked out through Deschutes Public Library and offer free Museum admission for up to four people.
Discovery Passes provide free Museum admission to targeted youth and adult social service organizations throughout the Oregon High Desert community who may not otherwise be able to visit the Museum.
High Desert Stories is a free program where our staff takes stories and adventure to libraries in Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties and introduces early learners to various stories.
FREE Admission for Tribal Members The High Desert Museum is proud to offer free admission all year long to visitors who are Native American Tribal members.
Little Wonders is a partnership with NeighborImpact, providing free annual membership to Head Start kids and their families in our community.
Museum & Me is a quiet time for children and adults who experience physical, intellectual and/or social disabilities to enjoy the High Desert Museum. Explore the Museum’s newest exhibits and revisit your favorites free of charge. Adult chaperones are required and friends are welcome. This is a quarterly program.
Museums for All is here so families with EBT cards may visit the High Desert Museum at a reduced admission rate of $2.00 per person with the presentation of an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and photo ID. The reduced rate will be offered for up to six individuals (up to two adults and four children) per EBT card and is valid during normal business hours only.
Military Discounts allows retired military personnel with government ID receive 10% off their family’s admission.
