Join us on this exciting journey into water in the High Desert. Over the course of five events, you will connect with a range of individuals, engage in behind-the-scenes tours, and discuss a variety of topics related to water.

Event #1: Deschutes River Tour

Saturday, September 7 at 9:00 am (full day event)

Learn about the Deschutes River through the lens of a scientist and photographer. Geologist Daniele McKay and seasoned photojournalist Rob Kerr will take us on an immersive tour of sites along the Deschutes River. Lunch is included.  


Event #3: Tribal Water Rights

Wednesday, October 2 at 5:30 pm

Join us for an intimate conversation with Bobby Brunoe, the CEO and Secretary/Treasurer for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, and Josh Newton, partner at BBK Law. The conversation will explore tribal sovereignty and Treaty Rights in relation to water in the region. Dinner is included. 

Event #2:Pelton Round Butte Dam Tour 

Saturday, September 21 at 8:00 am (full day event)

Get a behind the scenes tour of this unique system! Learn how Portland General Electric and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon co-manage the Pelton Round Butte Dam project to provide hydropower and support fish species. Lunch is included.


Event #4: Rainshadow Organics Tour + Dinner

Saturday, October 5 at 4:00 pm

Embark on an enlightening tour of Rainshadow Organics, a thriving full-diet farm nestled in the heart of Central Oregon. Join us alongside owner Sarahlee Lawrence as we delve into the principles of sustainable agriculture and water management. Dinner is included.


Event #5: Harmonic Lab at the High Desert Museum

Saturday, November 9 at 5:30 pm

For the conclusion of our series, award winning art collective Harmonic Lab will facilitate an exploration of our personal and communal reflections on water through the lens of an immersive art installation at the High Desert Museum. Dinner is included.

We request that participants attend all five events. There is no cost to attend but space is limited, and registration is required.
